Global warming, human rights, war and peace, poverty relief, and AIDS in Africa… these are all pressing issues of our day! Should celebrities like Bono and Brad Pitt be the only ones who stand up for these issues. What does the Bible say about such things? And what should we do about them? Join us during this series at CrossPoint Community Church where these questions and others will be answered. Throughout this series, at both campuses, we will be doing a canned goods food drive. Search your pantry and bring in your cans on Sunday!

Fall Festival and the MAZE* are coming on Friday night, October 31st, 6-9pm. Mark your calendars for this family fun community festival! There will be fun games and activities [all FREE], the MAZE [FREE], food and lots of candy, live music, and even fireworks at the end. Dress up in your favorite non-scary costume. Sign up here to serve. We want to have at least 100 youth volunteers! *The MAZE is a huge labyrinth of cardboard [the size of an entire gymnasium] that will take you through twists, around turns, up ramps, and down slides

We have begun to use XP3 curriculum for our small group youth nights [Sunday night RECON at Seven Lakes, 6-8pm, and Wednesday night Quest [Jr. High], 6-7:30pm, and Catalyst [Sr. High]], 7:30-9pm]. For more information on this new curriculum, check out XP3 Students online.

Profession of Faith is coming soon! Profession of Faith [Confirmation] is a one school year period of instruction that teaches our youth the core truths of the Bible, is open for 7th or 8th graders, and will be taught at both of our CrossPoint campuses [Westgreen on Wednesday night, 6-7:30pm, and Seven Lakes on Sunday night, 6-8pm. There will be a parent meeting on Sunday night, September 21, 5pm. The Westgreen campus meeting will take place in The Commons. The excitement is on! The 2008 Fall Youth Retreat, UNITE, is here [Click here for the really cool promotional video!]! The date is September 26-28 at Camp Lone Star. This retreat is for both Jr. and Sr. High students. Mark your calendars, save the date, and tell your friends! There is limited seating… so avoid the rush and plan to register as soon as possible. The cost is only $85. The estimated time of departure will be Friday, September 26, from CrossPoint, @ 5:30pm. Estimated time of return arrival back to CrossPoint will be at 12:30pm on Sunday, September 28. Click here to register for this event. The Gathering is coming on September 3rd! On the first Wednesday night of every month, from 6:30-8:30pm, in the Westgreen campus worship center, we will have great music and message along with free food. Throughout the year, we will have guest bands, speakers, activities, and giveaways! On September 3rd, we will hear some great music, give away a PS3 [Play Station 3], have a rock climbing wall, and have free pizza for everyone. Please remember, our goal for this first Gathering on September 3 is 150+ Jr. and Sr. High youth from throughout the Katy and West Houston community. So, invite your friends! Join us on Sunday night, August 17, for our back to school youth event at Laser Quest! Cost is only $15 per person. The Jr. High event will be from 6-7:30pm. The Sr. High event will be from 7:30-9pm. Light refreshments will be served at the event. This event is for incoming 5th graders as well! Be sure to register and pay online for the event. And, don’t forget to bring on the day of the event a Registration/Medical/Permission Form! Parents should drop off and pick up at Laser Quest, 13711 Westheimer Road, Unit H, Houston, TX 77707.

On Sunday, July 13, we begin a new 6 week message series entitled, “FIDO and the Meaning of Life”. This series is about “truth so simple, even the dog knows it!” This new series will be a study of the book of Proverbs. The Hebrew word mashal translated, “proverb”, is understood as “oracles”, “parables”, or “wise sayings”. Proverbs are really cool because they apply to all people of all time. They are relevant because they concern themselves with human nature and God’s ways! Join us this next six weeks as we grow in understanding and in discipline. 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “By the grace of God, I am what I am.” When I think of a Dad, that phrase captures it for me. Dad’s are never perfect. But, we know that Dad’s have the promise and potential to make eternal impact upon their children. I know that being a Dad has changed my life. Not only do I get to be a little one again, I also get to be a leader for my children. This week during Sunday morning Shift_, all of our youth, at all of our campuses, will be receiving a Dad’s Root Beer to give to their Father with a small personalized card under the tab. Happy Father’s Day!

July 25-26, we are headed to SplashTown for an overnight lock-in [Click here for our Video Announcement!]! Jr. and Sr. High are both invited. We will leave from CrossPoint at 9pm on Friday night and return on Saturday morning to CrossPoint at 7am. Cost is $30. Register online. Don’t forget to download a Registration/Medical/Permission Form as well [You must turn this in on or before the night of the lock-in, no exceptions!]. The night will be filled with fun, excitement, and a good Christian message. Tome Elmore, youth minister from Lakewood Church, will deliver a powerful message to start the evening, which will be followed by seven great bands and artists, including the chart topping band, “Inhabited”. And there will even be a fun filled 3 on 3 sand volleyball tournament! Not to mention… all of the water slides that are open all night! Parents: To ensure the safety of our youth, we will have a youth to parent chaperon ratio of 6:1, all youth will be required to stay with their group/chaperon the entire night, and all youth and chaperons will be wearing CrossPoint t-shirts. Email Pastor Jason or call [281.945.5111] if you would like to be a parent chaperon overnight or if you would like to be a driver to and from the event [This helps the adults who stay overnight to not have to worry about driving, especially in the morning.]!
